Front flower beds
My goal is to have flower beds that are continuously blooming. We would have spring, summer, and fall bloomers along with some greenery. We spent much time last spring planting and mulching on one side of the bed; starting small and will add plants every year until it fills out. In the early spring, the bed looked so sad and it looked like many of the plants we planted last year were not coming back. However, about a month later, we had many things growing. We were lacking in spring bloomers, so we planted some irises, daffodils, tulips, bleeding hearts, and peonies. Our summer bloomers planted last year have came up again and include several colors of lilies, gladiolus, calla lilies (that I dug up from another part of the property and transplanted), and echinacea. We planted the echinacea for its medicinal properties and it has came back so strongly this year. I also plant my store Easter lilies every year after they lose their flowers. For fall bloomers, we planted mums which did not come back this year and sedum. We also planted some lambs ear for greenery.
